KU crushes CD by 7 wickets, lifts T-20 Cricket Tourney title

SRINAGAR, Sept 8: Kashmir University (KU) team crushed Civil Defence (CD) team by 7 wickets and lifted the title trophy of the T-20 Cricket Tournament, organised by Civil Defence at Hazratbal, here today.
On the valedictory function, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Yoginder Kaul was the chief guest, who awarded the winner as well as runner-up teams in presence of Mehraj Ahmed Shah Commandant SDRF 1st Battalion, RS Manhas SO to ADGP, Shoukat Iqbal SP, Abdul Qayoom Superintendent of Police Hazratbal, Deputy Chief Warden CD Aamir Ali and Mauzam Bakshi, faculty members of University of Kashmir, locals and sports lovers.
Special award was presented to Shabir Ahmed Khan, Skipper, CD team for organising the tournament so as boost sports activities in the Valley.
While speaking, IGP impressed upon the youth to participate in the sports activities to keep their body mentally and physically fit.
In the tournament, 28 cricket teams from Srinagar, Anantnag, Baramulla, Pulwama and Budgam districts participated and were vying for the coveted trophy.
