JAMMU, Nov 21: Kashmir University (KU), IGNOU Delhi, MANUU Hyderabad and Punjab University (PU), Chandigarh thrashed their opponents in their respective league matches and advanced into the next round of the ongoing All India Vice-Chancellor’s T-20 Cricket Tournament held at Jammu University, here today.
In the first league match, Kashmir University (KU) registered 23 runs win over Pune University (PU) at Jammu University main gate ground.
Batting first after winning the toss, Kashmir University (KU) scored 162 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Sami Ullah played a wonderful inning and chipped in half century (50 runs) including six balls towards the fence. Suhail also played well and made 45 runs, while, Parvez Parray and Tariq also contributed 22 and 10 runs respectively.
For Pune University (PU) side, Sunil and Santosh scalped 2 wickets each, while Vinod took one wicket.
In reply, Pune University (PU) failed to chase and target and bundled out at 139 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Parsad was the top scorer with 42 runs, whole Sami and B Zunzar chipped in 30 and 13 runs respectively.
For Kashmir University (KU) side, Latef was the wrecker-in-chief who scalped 3 wickets, whereas, Sami Ullah and Parvez claimed 2 and one wicket respectively.
In second league match, IGNOU, Delhi thrashed GB Pant Uttrakhand by a huge margin of 55 runs at Jammu University main gate ground, here today.
GB Pant Uttrakhand won the toss, elected to bat first and set a target of 124 runs in front of its opponent team for all out in stipulated 20 overs. Bhagat Singh played well and chipped in six boundaries in his 50 runs (half century) contribution to the total, whereas, Manjeet and Mahesh also smashed 16 and 10 runs respectively.
For IGNOU Delhi side, Harish, Arun and Darshan scalped 2 wickets each, while, Gaurav took one wicket.
In the second inning, IGNOU Delhi chased the target just two balls before the end of the inning for the loss of nine wickets.
For GB Pant Uttrakhand side, Anil Joshi was the wrecker-in-chief who scalped 3 wickets by giving 25 runs in his 4 over spell, while Bhagat Singh and Shalinder took 2 wickets each.
In the third league match, MANUU Hyderabad outplayed HPU, Shimla by just 15 runs in a neck-to-neck contest at Gymnasium Hall ground, Jammu University.
Batting first after winning the toss, MANUU Hyderabad scored a huge score of 162 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Mohd Yousaf played well and chipped in 52 runs including six boundaries, while, Abdul Hafeez and Saleem also made 46 and 16 runs respectively.
For HPU Shimla side, Surinder claimed 3 wickets, while Mukesh scalped 2 wickets.
In reply HPU Shimla failed to chase the target and bundled out just near to the target at 147 runs for all out in stipulated 20 overs. Devinder played a superb inning and scored 59 runs including 8 balls towards the fence, while, Pushpinder and Rajesh contributed 27 and 23 runs respectively.
For MANUU Hyd side, Naveed claimed 3 wickets haul in three overs, while, Ameer and Isar Alam scalped wickets each.
In the last league match of the day, Punjab University (PU), Chandigarh registered 8 wickets victory over MDS University, Ajmer at Gymnasium Hall ground, Jammu University.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, MDS University, Ajmer scored 117 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Mukesh, Surendra and VK Tiwar chipped in 24, 23 and 16 respectively.
For PU Chandigarh side, Inder was the pick of the bowler who scalped 3 wickets, while, Suresh and Vijay claimed 2 and one wicket respectively.
In the second inning, 91 runs contribution by Amrinder made PU Chandigarh to register 8 wickets victory over MDS University, Ajmer in just 10. 3 overs. Enthusiastic Amrinder who remained not out displayed a marvelous batting performance and chipped in 91 runs including 10 boundaries and six lofty sixes. Rajesh and Naveen also made 12 and 10 runs respectively.
For MDS University Ajmer side, Umesh and Sandeep scalped one wicket apiece.
The matches were officiated by Sami Ullah, Amit Gupta, Sudhir, JD Singh, Suresh Singh, Pankaj, Harvinder, Vijay Dogra, Chandu Kiran, Saleem-ur-Rehman and Sadiq Hussain.
In tomorrow’s fixture, JMI, Delhi will clash with Pune University and Jammu University will take on PAU, Ludhiana at Jammu University Main Gate ground, whereas, Mumbai University will clash with EDU Board, Ajmer and Delhi University will take on SKUAST, Kashmir at Gymnasium Hall Grounds.
