JAMMU, Mar 17: A superb all-round show by skipper Kuldeep Kumar and gutsy knocks by Sandeep Singh and Puneet Kumar helped Rainawari Cricket Club to thrash BCC by a big margin of 43 runs in the T20 Cricket Tournament, organized by Northern Railway Sports Club, under the supervision of Fayaz Ahmed at Railway Ground, here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Rainawari Cricket Club scored a modest total of 138 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Wicketkeeper batsman Sandeep Singh was the top scorer with 34 runs, which included 4 fours and one six, while left-handed batsman Puneet Kumar and Kuldeep Kumar contributed valuable 33 and 20 runs to the total respectively. Puneet hit 4 boundaries and 2 sixes, while Kuldeep hit 2 fours and one six. All three batsmen played shots with fluid grace and utter brilliance in their brief knocks. For BCC, first-class cricketer Inderjeet Singh took 3 wickets, while speedster Vishwajeet claimed 2 wickets and Vijay Dogra picked one.
In reply, BCC batsmen failed to negotiate the disciplined bowling of the Rainawari Club bowlers, who bowled with nagging line and teasing length. Amit Billowria was the top scorer with 36 runs, studded with 3 fours and 3 sixes, while Sagar Gupta and Vijay Dogra contributed 15 and 12 runs to the total respectively. For Rainawari Club, left-arm spinner and skipper Kuldeep Kumar was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 important wickets by conceding 23 runs in his 4 overs, while Venus, Paras Sharma and Rohit Sharma claimed 2 wickets each. For his all-round show, Kuldeep was adjudged man of the match, while Ishan Gupta of the same Club was adjudged man of the series. Kuldeep was awarded Rs 600, a trophy and three Canes of Fortune Oil for his achievement, while Ishan got 5 Canes of Fortune Oil and trophy for his display throughout the series.
The winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000 alongwith a trophy by the chief guest, while the runners-up team received a cash prize of Rs 5,000 and a trophy from the chief guest.
24 teams participated in this sporting extravaganza which had begun on March 7, 2013 and concluded today.
