JAMMU, Oct 2: Cueist Kuldeep Sharma would be locking horns with Sumesh Turki, while Vishal Abrol would take on Ishan Chowdhary in the semifinals of the ongoing 22nd Jammu District Open Junior and Senior Snooker Championship 2012, being organized by the J&K State Billiards and Snooker Association (JKBSA) at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, in the quarterfinal matches played today, Ishan Chowdhary got better of Mukesh Kapahi 3-2 in a well contested match by (3-55, 29-53, 51-47, 54-31, 50-35), while Kuldeep Sharma thrashed top seed Ishuk Chowdhary 3-0 in an easy contest by (46-37, 59-52, 50-41) in another quarterfinal match today.
Sumesh Turki prevailed upon Sohail Khalid 3-1 by (57-43, 79-69, 46-58, 57-16) in the third quarterfinal, while Vishal Abrol outclassed Satyajeet 3-2 by (61-11, 21-47, 09-72, 73-27, 70-40) in a tough match to seal berth in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, the remaining pre-quarterfinal matches were played in the first session today, wherein Vishal Abrol outplayed Abhimanyu Arora 3-2 by (66-47, 40-53, 57-44, 37-50, 60-54), Ishan Chowdhary scripted a narrow win over Jaswinder Singh by 3-2 (55-15, 42-66, 49-24, 36-40, 45-28), Mukesh Kapahi trounced Mohit Mahajan by 3-1 (53-47, 34-55, 53-28, 58-38). Mohit Mahajan was second seeded in the tournament.
