LEH, Nov 19: Kunzes Dolma, India’s only Geothermal Consultant today gave a brief power point presentation to the Chairman/Chief Executive Counicllor LAHDC, Leh Advocate Tashi Gyalson and Executive Councillor for Minority Affairs and Forest Ghulam Mehdi at Council Secretariat about geothermal energy ( the future energy of world) in context with Ladakh region which has immense scope and potential of geothermal energy.
Ms Kunzes said that energy access can uplift any society (gender equality the most) no matter the geographical location and added that Ladakh can become a global leader in harnessing geothermal energy while achieving all its sustainable development goals including national security and PM Modi’s efforts to make Ladakh a carbon-neutral region.
While elaborating basic idea about the science of Geothermal energy and its use in different fields worldwide with examples, Ms Kunzes also gave a picture and scope of this sustainable energy in context with Puja, Chumathang, Panamik and Damjok known for geothermal repository and stressed on LAHDC, Leh to adopt a policy on geothermal energy for Ladakh. She also stressed on spreading knowledge about the utilization of geothermal energy in educational institutions of Ladakh.
CEC Gyalson said that a meeting of all the ECs and Councillors of LAHDC, Leh will be convened soon to aware the new members of Council about scope of geothermal energy in Ladakh and requested Ms Kunzes to give a detailed presentation to the Councillors.
