SRINAGAR, May 17: In continuation with the sustained efforts of the Army towards promoting culture of sports in the valley, Vajr Cup Cricket tournament was organised in Kupwara region to promote sport amongst youth.
A total of eight teams from Karnah, Trehgam, Kupwara, Lolab, Drugmulla, Machhal and Handwara took the part in the tournament. The matches were played at Panzgam and Lolab based on a 20 over format of the game and were witnessed by the locals who came out in large numbers to cheer their teams.
In the final match Kupwara Kings beat Handwara Warriors by 5 Run in Super over
Chief Guest for the finals distributed the prizes wherein the winning team received the glittering Vajr Cup trophy and a cheque of Rs 15,000.
