KU’s law students demand online exams

Srinagar, Dec 21: The student of Kashmir University’s Law Department today demanded that their semester examinations should be held online and be given ample time for preparations.
Scores of these students assembled in the Press Enclave and raised slogans against the University authorities as well as the Law Department, stating that if Jammu University can hold online examinations what is stopping Kashmir University from doing the same.
“Jammu University is holding an online open book exam but Kashmir University is doing something else, we are being forced to give the offline exams in the harsh winters,” said Mir Ishrat Nabi of KU’s Law Department.
She said that as per the UGC and BCI guidelines, the examinations are to be held online and they have to give the students ample time for the preparation. “They should know the guidelines if everyone is holding online exams what’s stopping KU,” the students asked.
Notably, Excelsior had earlier carried a news report regarding the demands of the students of the Law Department, however, the Head of the Department had impressed that the exams will be held offline and the same are scheduled to be held in January.
He had also assured of ample relaxations to the students while underlining that the performance of the students deteriorate during the online mode of examinations.
The students said that while the internet was shut for last 3 days in South Kashmir, the Law Department has all of a sudden issued the date sheet.
The students said that their internal are pending which they have to carry on in harsh winters along with the form corrections. The students said that they don’t only demand online mode of examination, but also ample time for preparations
“Why are there different guidelines for the Jammu students and different ones for the Kashmir students? We demand that the date sheet must be revoked within 24 hours,” the students demanded.
