KV Udhampur celebrates Grandparent’s Day

UDHAMPUR, Oct 12: Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, Udhampur, celebrated Grandparent’s Day under CMP here today.
According to a handout issued here the function was attended by about three hundred Grandparents who were welcomed by Savita Sadhu and the children of Student’s Council with flower buds.
The School Principal, Dr R Prasad was chief guest on the occasion, while Vidya Sharma was the guest of honour.
Vikramaditya, Officiating Vice- Principal, Usha Koul, Officiating Headmistress, Minakshi, Co-ordinator and other members of the staff were also present on the occasion .
This was followed by the lightning of the lamp and flag- hoisting by the Grandparents and the children. In the welcome address, Dr R Prasad appreciated the role of Grandparents in the family for laying the foundation of moral and social values.
The children presented a welcome song before the audience for a musical beginning. The day proceeded with the introduction of grandparents by Sudesh Kohli.
This was followed by a small cultural program which included group dance and games for the Grandparents. The grand parents took part enthusiastically in the games like ‘Count the Accessories’, ‘Antakshari’, ‘Passing the Parcel’ and ‘Wearing the Saree’. These games filled joy in the hearts of the participants and made them feel young and wanted. This reminded them of their childhood and youth. Skits were also performed by the students who were guided by  P.K.Shukla and Navjeet Kaur.
This was followed by the distribution of prizes to the winners of the games. Usha Koul thanked all the grandparents who had graced the occasion.
