Jammu, July 28: The KVS Regional Sports Meet 2024-25 concluded with a grand ceremony at PM SHRI KV No. 1 Jammu, marking the end of two days of intense competition and sportsmanship. The event featured Chess and Skating for boys in U-14, U-17, and U-19 categories. Principal PM SHRI KV No. 1 Jammu, Amit Walter, was the chief guest at the valedictory function.
In Chess, Neeraj Kumar of KV Baderwah won gold in the U-14 category, with Divyansh Marathe of KV Bandipora taking silver and Yamahil Sangra of KV Kathua earning bronze. Abhinav Fotedar of KV AFS No. 2 Srinagar claimed gold in the U-17 category, followed by Abeer Pratap of PM SHRI KV No. 1 Jammu with silver and Shiv of KV Bhaderwah with bronze. The U-19 category saw Samir Niaz of KV Bhaderwah winning gold, Aarush Hans of PM SHRI KV No. 1 Jammu taking silver, and Saksham Sharma of KV Kathua securing bronze.
In Skating, Vrihad of PM SHRI KV No. 1 Jammu won gold in the U-17 3000m category. Naitik Sharma and Yashmit of KV No. 2 Jammu took gold and silver respectively in the U-14 2000m category, while Arnav Singh Slathia of KV No. 2 Jammu won gold in the U-17 1000m category, followed by Ayush Sharma of KV Nagrota with silver and Vrihad of PM SHRI KV No. 1 Jammu with bronze. The winners were honored with certificates and medals, celebrating their exceptional abilities in sports.
Meanwhile, a similar event at Sunjuwan school was a grand success, marked by outstanding performances and spirited participation. In the football finals, the Under-17 category saw Jammu No. 2 emerge as the winner against Bandipora, with both teams displaying excellent skills and teamwork. In the Under-14 category, KV No. 2 Srinagar clinched the title, with Leh securing the runner-up position and KV No. 2 Jammu finishing in a commendable third place. Sunjuwan competed fiercely in cricket but faced a tough match and ultimately lost against KV No. 1 Jammu. The event concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony, where winners were awarded medals and certificates by Renu Dhar.
Additionally, the 53rd KVS Regional Sports Meet 2024 concluded at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 Udhampur, under the guidance of Swati Bansal. The event saw participation from 23 schools across the Jammu region, with primary events being Kabaddi and Volleyball. The chief guests included Sunil Sharma, a retired Principal and National Volleyball player, Ashwani Sharma, a national Kabaddi player, Ashok Padha, President of the Volleyball Association of District Udhampur, and Bhim Sen, a national Kabaddi player.
Over two days of competitive and exhilarating matches, KV Bhadarwah emerged as the winners of the Under-14 Kabaddi match, followed by KV Lakhanpur and KV Kathua. KV No. 1 Udhampur won the Under-17 Kabaddi match, with KV Samba and KV Bhaderwah securing second and third positions, respectively. KV Baramulla was declared the winner of the Under-14 Volleyball match. In the Under-17 Volleyball match, KV No. 1 Udhampur took first place, followed by KV No. 2 Udhampur and KV Samba. The meet concluded with a closing ceremony where certificates were awarded to the winners, celebrating their dedication and success in sports.
