KVS students crown school with 2 gold medals

SRINAGAR, Sept 17: Young footballers of Kendriya Vidyalaya Srinagar -1 added a feat to their school by clinching a gold medals in a highly charged final contest defeating KV -3 (Pathankot) at Pathankot in Jammu region.
Led by their captain Adnan Magray, the KV-1, Srinagar, scored the first and only goal in the match when Faisal Qadir, a young midfielder, headed the ball into the post after Sami-ullah Amin crossed the ball from left side when the teams had consumed first fifteen minutes of the first half of their 50- minute contest.
Realizing his team has a lead in the contest, Magray called his players to go defensive and not let the opposition score a goal. The strategy worked for the KV Srinagar as they choked the opponents for not scoring a leveler.
Fourteen teams of different Kendriyas participated in the contest that was played for three days at different venues in Jammu region.
After the feat, the whole team was selected to play in inter KV football tournament at all India level.
Among the young footballers of the school, four budding players including Sami ullah Amin, Junaid Lone, Adnan Magray, Talib Rather of KVS were selected to play for national level by representing form Jammu region.
Not only did the KV-1 Srinagar players shine in football, the cricket team also had a field day by winning a gold medal in under -19 Cricket tournament played between different Kendriya teams.
KV-1, Srinagar, defeated last year champions, Amritsar, at Jammu Cantonment cricket ground.
Among the wining cricket players, three young cricketers were selected for Under-19 national level contest.
To hone the skills of the young players for the national level competition, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Samiti is organizing a camp for them at Pathankot for footballers and in Jammu for cricketers.
