Srinagar, Mar 30: More than 300 employees of Labour Department and Provident Fund today suspended their work and observed a one day strike seeking promotions.
The employees said that from around 3 years the Department has not conducted any meeting of Departmental Promotional Committee (DPC) which “is against the rules”. “The meeting is supposed to take place after every six months but no such meeting has taken place since last more than three years,” the employees said.
Threatening agitation and strike, the employees said if the DPC meet is not held in coming days the unions of both Labour Department and Provident Fund employees would chalk out protest programme. Meanwhile, the strike by employees resulted in inconvenience to hundreds of people who thronged Provident Fund office for one or another purpose.
