Srinagar, Dec 19: The J&K Labour Department won the final of the 2nd edition of the ‘Gogoo Legends League’, defeating Gousia Enterprises in a thrilling match at Gogoo Ground, here today.
Batting first after winning the toss, Gousia Enterprises set an imposing target, scoring 253 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs.
The innings was anchored by Rajbir, who smashed a magnificent 109, supported by Shahid’s quick-fire 69.
The team reached 100 runs in just 9 overs, displaying aggressive intent throughout their innings.
In response, the Labour Department started cautiously, managing only 15 runs in the first two overs and losing an early wicket in the third over.
However, star batsman Basharat turned the game around with a sensational knock. Partnering with Aijaz, he helped stabilize the innings, crossing the 50-run mark by the 5th over.
After Aijaz’s dismissal, Basharat was joined by Javed, and together, they orchestrated one of the most memorable chases in the league’s history.
Basharat hammered 120 runs off 60 balls, while Javed contributed a blistering 80 off 29 deliveries. The pair guided their team to the target with 13 balls to spare, finishing at 254 in just 18 overs.
Shakeel emerged as a standout bowler for the Labour Department, delivering a disciplined spell by conceding only 32 runs in 4 overs.
Captain Omair Wani added to the team’s efforts with two exceptional catches that proved pivotal.
The Labour Department’s dominant performance throughout the tournament culminated in their well-deserved triumph. They were awarded the Winners Trophy along with a cash prize.
