JAMMU, Feb 25: A labourer died today due to electrocution in Akhnoor area of city outskirts.
According to a police official, the deceased labourer was identified as Ashish Kumar (18) son of Subhash Chander, resident of Krangi (Akhnoor). He said that the labourer was working at a construction site in Manda area of Akhnoor when an electric cable of a power supply line suddenly broke and fell on him.
After coming in contact with the live electric cable, the man received severe electric shock and fell unconscious. He was immediately shifted to Sub District Hospital, Akhnoor but in view of his serious condition, he was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he passed away during treatment.
The body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites after completing all medico-legal formalities while a case in this regard was registered at police station Akhnoor and investigations started.
