KATHUA, July 8: A labourer working with Jackson factory Mehrooli falling under the jurisdiction of Lakhanpur Police Station was killed when a wall adjacent to his hut collapsed and he was buried under the debris.
He was identified as Mohammed Sheikh Mein, 26, of Barwla West Bengal. He was shifted to District Hospital Kathua in a serious condition where he was declared brought dead by the doctors.
The labourers working in the factory have expressed their resentment about the death of a labourer and alleged that due to violation of labour rules and regulations by the factory management many accidents have taken place. They also accused the Labour Department and police of never taking pains to maintain a check whether rules and regulations are maintained by the factory management or not.
The SHO Lakhanpur who visited the spot soon after the incident and shifted the labourer to hospital said that the hut for labourers was made adjacent to the wall. However police has not registered the case as yet nor the authorities have taken any action against the management.
