Labourer electrocuted, another injured

RAJOURI, July 26: A 24-year-old  labourer was died and another injured due to electric shock while working on a boundary of 110 General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) camp at Budhal today.
Official sources said that the labourers came in contact with the live HT wire when they were placing a ladder on wall and suddenly the ladder touched live wire. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Sageer, son of Mohammad Bashir, resident of Behrote.
Another labourer who suffered critical injuries was identified as Mohammad Azam (40),  resident of Kewal village in Budhal. After providing first- aid the injured labourer has been referred  to GMC Rajouri for further medical treatment.
Locals and relatives of both laboure said that incident occurred due to negligence of both GREF and PDD staff. They demanded that action must be taken against guilty. They also demanded suitable compensation in favour of family of the deceased as he was the lone earner in his home. They appealed to the government to release compensation for injured labourer as well.
A Power Development Department official said that they have forwarded a letter to  Inspection Wing Jammu and team will investigate  the cause of incident.
