Labourer stabbed

JAMMU, July 2: A migrant labourer was stabbed late last night by his room-mate with a sharp-edged weapon in Lakkar Mandi area falling under the jurisdiction of police station Janipur.
According to a police spokesperson, the incident happened around 11 pm last night when the both the victim and accused engaged into a scuffle after heated exchanges over payment of electricity bill of the room in which they were living here at Lakkar Mandi.
He said that in a fit of rage the accused namely Bajrang Lehre (28) son of Ranjit Lahre stabbed his room-mate namely Goutam (35) son of Sukh Ram, with a knife in his stomach and chest. Both accused and the victim are natives of Chhatisgarh.
The blood-ridden Goutam was immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where his condition is stated to be stable. Meanwhile, as soon as Janipur police came to know of the matter, a police team headed by SHO Janipur, Inspector Ajeet Singh, reached the spot and arrested the accused with the weapon of offence. A case under relevant sections has been registered at police station Janipur against the accused and further investigations started.
