Ladakh Scouts clinches 17th CEC Cup Men’s Ice Hockey C’ship

LEH, Feb 22: The final match of the 17th CEC Cup Men’s Ice Hockey Championship was played between ITBP A and Army (LSRC) Red teams at the Ice Hockey Rink, NDS Sports Complex at Leh today. Army Red defeated ITBP A with 2-0 goals to clinch the 17th CEC Cup Men’s Ice Hockey title this year.
The Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. Guests of honour were Executive Councillor for Minority Affairs, Ghulam Mehdi Ashoor and Executive Councillor for RDD, Tashi Namgail Yakzee. Other esteemed guests included Councillors of LAHDC Leh, DIG SHQ ITBP Ladakh, SSP Leh, CO Ladakh Scouts, DYSSO Leh, officials from Ladakh Winter Sports Club and various other esteemed guests were present during the game.
The Deputy Chairman appreciated the winning as well as the runner-up teams and lauded their splendid performances showing true sportsmanship spirit throughout the game. He added that Ladakhi athletes have been getting good platforms in this sport over the years and the Hill Council, Leh and Ladakh Administration have been supporting these athletes within various capacities. He further stated that this sport is being reached out to every corner of the region and hoped to see many young and enthusiastic Ice-Hockey players emerging from every village in the coming days.
He also mentioned that a number of athletes and Ice-Hockey teams have been provided with subsidised equipments under the LAHDC Leh’s subsidy scheme. Furthermore, he also lauded the tireless effort of the organizing committee for the timely and successfully organizing the tournament this year. Deputy Chairman distributed prizes and mementos among the players and the match officials in the end.
