JAMMU, Dec 6: Students from Ladakh today condemned the atrocities of administration in Zanskar valley and demanded transfer of Tehsildar at the earliest.
Carrying pla-cards and banner, hundreds of students of Ladakh assembled in front of Press Club and held a protest demonstration against the administration in Zanskar valley.
Addressing the protestors, Stanzin Stopde, a student from Ladakh alleged that the administration in the Zanskar valley manhandled and also cane-charged the people, who were raising voice against fishing in the Holy lake of Sani village. 12 peoples including women and senior citizens were injured during lathicharge, they said, adding that in this episode the main culprit is Tehsildar Zanskar, Nasir Ahmed, he added.
Tsewang Norbu while speaking said that earlier Tehsildar did not allow All Sarpanchs Co-Ordination Committee to hold meet and imposed IPC 144, which is un-justified.
Rinzin Kelsang in his address said that representatives of Sarpanch committee and Zanskar Buddhist Association went to SDM Office to discuss about the recently held MLC elections, but tehsildar did not allow them to meet the administration, which irritated the Sarpanchs and Panchs of Zanskar to boycott the elections.
The protesting students said that if the administration failed to transfer the Tehsildar, they will adopt agitational path and for any untoward incident, the administration will be responsible.
