Param Club, Sainik Colony FC win ties

JAMMU, Oct 9:. Lal Singh, MLA, former Minister and Founder Chairman, Dogra Swabhimaan Sangathan inaugurated Chhatra Shaheed Memorial Football Tournament in an impressive function at GGM Science College Football ground, here today.
The Tournament is being organized by Jammu Joint Students’ Federation (JJSF) under the aegis of JKFA, Jammu and sponsored by J&K Bank Ltd.
In the opening match Param FC defeated All Star FC via tie-breaker by four goals to two (4-2). Aniket Jasrotia was adjudged player of the match who scored 2 goals.
In another math played today, Sainik Colony Football Club defeated NGR by four goals to one (4-1). Aryaveer was adjudged as player of the match for scoring 2 goals.
Earlier, Pushvinder Singh, president JJSF presented welcome address and extended thanks to the administration of GGM Science College, team of JKFA, team of SKUAST, team of JJSF and especially the team of J&K Bank led by Ravi Sharma PRO to Chairman, J&K Bank for their cooperation and coordination.
Ch Lal Singh applauded the initiative taken by JJSF and said that the ongoing tournament is the best tribute to the students martyrs of 1966 namely Subash Chander, Brij Mohan, Gulshan Handa and S. Gurcharan Singh who laid down their lives while fighting against the shifting of SKUAST from Jammu to Kashmir (Sopore).
He said that Sports Council should support and promote such type of programs which are connected to the sports activities, adding that one should take inspiration from the sacrifice of these martyrs and follow the path shown by them.
He further said that this is the right time for Dogras to get united and be ready to fight a decisive struggle to get the Dogra Pride back.
It is pertinent to mention here that the said tournament is played on Knock-out basis and 20 registered clubs are participating in the tournament.
Rajinder Jamwal, Advocate and Ex. President JJSF was the chief guest in the second match.
The matches were officiated by Suresh Gupta, Rahul Sharma, Honey Mehra, Amit Kumar, Koushal, Dheeraj Meenia, Dil Bahadur and Rahul Sharma.
In tomorrow’s fixture, the first match will be played between Mussa FC and Young Heros at 1 pm, while in the second match Shaheen Blue will take on Christian Star at 3:30 pm.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included Sheikh Mehmood, (Retd. IPS Officer and President JFA), Romesh Kumar (Vice President JFA), Yousuf Don (Secretary JFA), Rajesh Sumbria, Kuljeet Singh Jamwal, Rajinder Jamwal, Atul Sudan (Vice President JJSF), Rajan Gupta (Org. Secretary) and Ashu Gupta (Prop. Ashu Book House).
