KATHUA, Mar 14: Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings, Ch Lal Singh inaugurated the first Young Achievers Cricket Tournament in an impressive, well attended and colourful function here today.
Thirty two teams drawn from North Zone are participating in the tournament which is being organized in the memory of Late Ch Saran Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Lal Singh exhorted that Kathua is fortunate enough to have good sports infrastructure and all efforts should be made to optimally use the resources to promote the sports talent in the area.
He also called upon the concerned agencies to provide ample opportunities to the youth and encourage them to take part in sports and other co-curricular activities.
He said sports help to channelize the energy of the youth in positive direction.
Former MLAs, Kanta Andotra, Durga Dass, senior officers of concerned departments, beside large number of cricket lovers were present on the occasion.
