LEH, Jan 12: The first Lalit Suri Ice Hockey Challenge Cup 2013 got underway at Karzoo Ice Hockey Rink, here today.
Organized by Lalit Suri Hotels Group this is the second Ice Hockey tournament of this winter after Ladakh Scouts Cup which commenced today. Total 12 Ice Hockey teams of men and 5 teams of women are participating in this Cup, the final match of which will be played on January 16, 2013.
The Executive Councilor Sports Ghulam Abass Abadi was chief guest on the inaugural match which was played between Ladakh Scouts Blue and ITBP Ice Hockey teams. ITBP team won the match by scoring six goals to two (6-2) in an easy contest.
Meanwhile, in another match, Lalok team defeated Drass team.
Reiterating Council’s priority for early completion of the Ice Hockey Stadium which is coming up at Kyatsags, Leh, the Executive Councilor expressed hope for completion of the stadium by next year.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Leh Tsering Morup and the members of Lalit Suri Group were also present on the occasion.
