JAMMU: National Conference legislator Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo on Monday was marshalled out from the Upper House after he raised an issue of compensation to the people whose land was being acquired for new power projects in Kishtwar and constitution of House Committee.
Speaking to mediapersons later outside the House, the member said, “I do not understand that why the Chairman Legislative Council Haji Inayat Ali is not ready to listen to the truth.”
“My only concern was that Kishtwar district being a hilly district, people there do not have much of the agricultural land and despite that the Government was offering Rs 2 lakh compensation to them for the land acquired for the power projects,” said Mr Kichloo.
He further added that the members of the House must visit to Kishtwar and see the ground situation. “There should be a comprehensive policy framed by the Government.
Kishtwar is a seismic zone and it can be fatal if any natural calamity like earthquake takes place,” he added. “I just wanted directions from the Chairman’s Chair regarding constitution of House Committee in this concern but instead I was marshalled out,” said the NC legislator. (AGENCIES)
