Land Bill has nothing productive for J&K: Niaz

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Apr 24: Nadeem Sharief Niaz, publicity secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Congress Committee (JKCC) today said that the Land Ordinance Bill brought in by NDA Government is obvious imposition on Country’s common people and it has nothing productive for J&K.
He said that the ordinance is an attempt to open up for corporate houses despite the fact this land being only source of income, shelter and livelihood for millions of people in the country.
He said that NDA Government has turned completely blind to the nation-wide opposition of Land Bill by different political parties, labour unions and farmers, adding it is shameful that Government has kneeled before few corporate houses and has ignored fundamental rights of farmers.
The NDA Government’s Land ordinance is a clever drafting to benefit few people since categories of rural infrastructure, social infrastructure and Industrial corridors is not clearly defined in the Act which can be misused by the people at the helm of affairs to the convenience of law.
He further said that Government has no roadmap for agricultural growth since the ordinance is prone to negative impact on agricultural production due to shrinking agricultural land and growing population.
Alleging that allowing acquiring irrigated crop land will not only damage environment, but also affect livelihood of people and agricultural production, Niaz urged Jammu and Kashmir Government to protest this anti-farmer bill and not to allow such anti-agricultural law in State.
