Chugh said the people of J&K had lost trust in elections due to “unholy alliance” of the Congress and National Conference (NC) made by then PM Rajiv Gandhi and Chief Minister of J&K ,Dr Farooq Abdullah in 1987 after they rigged the elections to come to power in the erstwhile State.
However, with free and fair elections held in the J&K under Modi Government this time people have gained their faith and trust in country’s democratic system as well as elections and credit for this goes to BJP Government led by Narendra Modi , Chugh said.
On repeated allegations levelled by Opposition parties on BJP, he said they are in desperation and can’t digest the large scale development done by the Modi Government in the UT so they are making such statements. “This desperation is also because they were harping on the boycott of elections earlier and now there is heavy polling all over UT,” he added.
On recent statement of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and senior Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi on downgrading the State of J&K to UT, Chugh said Rahul does not have any knowledge of issues and he reads the written statement given to him by the leaders of National Conference. He is not a leader but a reader, he added.
The BJP national general secretary also ridiculed the opposition parties for their oft repeated misleading statements on Article 370 and 35 A. He said they mislead the people that after the abrogation of special status of J&K the extra ordinary taxes were imposed on people and power tariff was also hiked by installing smart meters. “But I hope that people of J&K will not fall in their (Opposition parties’) trap as Modi Government took drastic steps for the development of J&K and welfare of its people by launching many welfare schemes.
He said Rs five lakh medical insurance is being increased to seven lakh. Poor people have been given houses, every household got pure drinking water supply while every village was given power supply. Besides, the Government promised five lakh jobs, new houses to homeless and free ration he added.
The pension of old people and widows has been increased to Rs 36000 while every old woman in a family will get Rs 18,000 per year. “This has baffled the opposition parties and out of frustration they are making wild allegation but I hope and trust that people of J&K are with BJP and Modi and there are no takers for Opposition parties false and malicious propaganda,” he added.
Chugh said as the people participated enmass in first wo phases he hoped that record number of voters will turn in third phase on October 1 also and ensure victory of BJP.
He said Narendra Modi has a special love for people of J&K and he stood with them during the 2014 floods, COVID and other problems which they faced. “So I am confident that the people of J&K will give their all blessings to Modi in this election as everyone in J&K is with PM”, he added.
In response to a question that Opposition are levelling allegations that Central BJP leaders have no trust on their UT leadership hence all Central minsters are coming for campaigning in J&K, Chugh said that if their ( Opposition) leaders are not coming for campaigning what the BJP can do?
The NC -Congress though in alliance do not trust each other. Omar has criticised Congress asking Rahul that instead of Kashmir he should concentrate on Jammu which reveals the inner contradictions in the alliance, he added.
He said the dynastic parties never bothered for the welfare of J&K people but where concerned for their own welfare and welfare of their relatives.
Chugh also refuted that there is any dissent in BJP saying the party leaders who got the mandate and who did not get have joined campaigning jointly to ensure party’s victory.
