Law must prevail: Panun

JAMMU, Feb 13 : In view of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru’s hanging in Tihar Jail in Delhi, Panun Kashmir an amalgam of Kashmiri Pandit organisations today said it is time for all the political parties to display  national unity.
“In matters relating to terror, affecting national peace and security, all political parties and shades of opinion must close ranks and reflect a sense of national unity,” Panun Kashmir president Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, said while chairing Political Affairs Committee meeting here.
Mr Chrungoo said “P K takes serious exception to the unnecessary and unwarranted discourse on the issue of execution of the Parliament attack accused Afzal Guru”.
“It is clear that the execution was effected as a consequence of the court verdict, yet attempts are being made to politicise the whole issue. Law of the land and rule of law must prevail in all situations irrespective of the political and vote bank considerations,” he added.
The PK leader, however, said at a time when inimical forces across the border are looking for an opportunity to ferment trouble in Kashmir, the Government of India must deal with the situation in a firm manner and desist from expressions that can incite and instigate people or create confusion.
Virender Raina, Panun Kashmir spokesperson said Panun Kashmir had expressed its serious reservations over the policy of the Government of India in facilitating the sojourns of secessionist leaders of Kashmir to Pakistan for the last several years. “The visits to Pakistan have been used by such leaders (separatists) to create frenzy against India and to take instructions to create trouble in Kashmir,” he alleged.
He said Yasin Malik’s public show of solidarity in Islamabad with the cause of Afzal Guru and an open association with the mastermind of Mumbai attack Hafeez Syeed in Pakistan is a brazen defiance to the nation and its campaign against terror.
