Lawrence students shine in Nat’l Thai Boxing C’ship, win 13 medals

JAMMU, Sept 2: Lawrence Public School (LPS) students showcased an impressive performance by winning 13 medals at the 15th National Thai Boxing Championship held in Latur, Maharashtra. The championship saw participation from over 400 athletes from various States across India. Lawrence School’s students excelled in the final matches, securing 4 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 4 bronze medals.
The gold medal winners from Lawrence School were Palak Thappa, Anka Saleem, Manan Sheikh and Saksham Sharma. The silver medallists include Nimesh Bhat, Ziya Khan, Mohd Aasif, Shazia Chowhan and Mohd Danish. The bronze medals were won by Mohd Imman, Nimra Fatima, Nadia Ibrahim, and Shagun Verma.
During the prize distribution ceremony, the medals were awarded by the chief guest, Kuldeep Sumankar, President of the Thai Boxing Federation, along with Ravinder Singh, General Secretary of the Thai Boxing Federation, and Amit Deshmukh, MLA. from Latur, Maharashtra.
In the overall results of the championship, Maharashtra secured 1st position, Odisha claimed 2nd position and Jammu & Kashmir achieved the 3rd position. The Jammu & Kashmir team won a total of 17 medals, comprising 4 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze. Lawrence Public School students contributed significantly to the team’s success by winning 13 out of these 17 medals. The students were trained and accompanied by their coach, Vaishali Sharma.
