JAMMU, Dec 20: The meeting of Department Related Standing Committee (DRSC)-II of Legislative Council was held here today under the chairmanship of MLC, Vijay Bakaya to review the functioning of the Transport Department.
Legislators, Ravinder Kumar Sharma, Jehangir Hussain Mir and Dharambir Singh Oberoi were also present in the meeting.
The Committee directed the Transport Department to gear up its field functionaries to fully restore the traffic light system in Srinagar and Jammu cities. The Committee called strong measures for decongesting the traffic system and developing parking slots at appropriate places, widening of roads, construction of flyovers and multi storeyed parking complexes to provide relief to the people.
Secretary Transport, Shahid Inayatullah gave resume of the physical and financial achievements of the department and measures initiated to improve the traffic system in the State.
Transport Commissioner, Saurav Bhagat, Managing Director JKSRTC, T S Tandon, Director SMG, G A Sofi, Inspector General of Police, Traffic, Munir Khan, besides other concerned officers of Transport Department and Council Secretariat attended the meeting.
