JAMMU, Feb 17: J&K Legislative Council today paid rich tributes to former legislator late S. Parduman Singh Azad who passed away on February 14, after a prolonged illness.
As soon as the House assembled today for proceedings, the Chairman, J&K Legislative Council, Amrit Malhotra informed the House about the sad demise of the former legislator.
Giving brief account of life and work of Late leader, Malhotra described him a seasoned Parliamentarian and leader of masses who championed the cause of people.
The departed leader always strived hard for the upliftment and socio-economic development of the downtrodden sections of the society. He believed in simplicity and adhered to the principal of secularism, socialism and democracy.
The late leader was elected as member J&K Legislative Assembly in 1977 as a Congress candidate from Gandhi Nagar Constituency and was also elected as member J&K Legislative Council in 2002.
Subsequently, the House also observed 2-minute silence to pay homage to the departed soul.
