*Jammu Queens emerge winner in exhibition match

JAMMU, Sept 20: Lakshmi Cricket Club (LCC) trounced Kathua Cricket Club (KCC) by 4 wickets and lifted the JSK Friendship Cricket Cup at Parade Ground, here today.
Vivek Gupta, DIG Jammu was the chief guest in the valedictory function, while Tajinder Singh SSP Jammu was the guest of honour. The chief guest and the other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams in the presence of Pawan Parihar SO to DIG Jammu, Suram Singh SP Rural, Vinay Kumar SP South Jammu, Sandeep Mehta SP Operation, Farooq Qaiser SP Headquarters Jammu, Shamim Qasba Nabi, Rajesh Gill Chief Prosecuting Officer, Hamid Choudhary, DySP DAR, Ram Singh DySP South, Satish Kumar SDPO North, Rajinder Singh SDPO East, Inspector Sunil Sharma SHO Pacca Danga, Surinder SHO City, Anil Incharge Parade Police Post, Veena Sharma Senior Women Cricket Coach and Anju Gupta from Department Youth Service and Sports Jammu. Chairman Lakshmi Cricket Club Pawan Kumar Gupta, Kapil Mahajan and Raju Saini were also present on the occasion.
The JSK Range Friendship Cricket Cup for the youth of Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts was organized under the supervision of DIG Jammu, while Pawan Parihar SO to DIG Jammu was the incharge of organizing team and Rajesh Gill Chief Prosecuting Officer and former Ranji Player was the Coordinator of the tournament.
In his address, DIG Jammu said that Range Police Headquarters Jammu would conduct more and more cricket events for the youths of the State so that every youth of the State shall remain healthy and can exhibit his talent.
Pawan Parihar SSP also spoke on the occasion and apprised the chief guest about the objective of the tournament and the participating teams.
Earlier, Rajesh Gill Chief Prosecuting Officer and Coordinator of the event presented welcome address and brief report of the event whereas the proceedings of the valedictory function were conducted by Justina Victor.
In the summit clash, Kathua Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 72 runs for the loss of all wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Himanshu was top scorer with 27 runs and Rohit made 18 runs.
Dhruv was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 wickets, while Tappan, Sameer and Sant Baksh claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, Lakshmi Cricket Club chased the target in 17.1 runs for the loss of 6 wickets thus won the match by 4 wickets. Dhruv played a good innings of 19 runs, while Vikram made 18 runs.
For Kathua Cricket Club, Himanshu, Sheetal and Jatinder took 2 wickets each.
Dhruv was adjudged as Man of the Match in the final match, Jatinder Singh of Kathua was declared as Best Bowler, Sandeep Singh was declared as Best Batsman whereas Dhruv of Lakshmi Club was declared as Man of the Series.
Meanwhile, in an exhibition cricket match for the girls, Jammu Queens defeated Jammu Angels by 5 wickets.
Batting first, Jammu Angels scored 78 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 15 overs. Sapna made 26 runs and Ananya scored 10 runs.
In reply, Jammu Queens chased the target in 14.4 overs by losing 5 wickets thus won the match by 5 wickets. Meenu scored unbeaten 21 runs while Kirti made 10 runs.
Meenu Slathia was declared as player of the match.
