JAMMU, Nov 28: To impart practical knowledge and educate the students and staff about legal rights and remedies under the themes – IT Act and POCSO Act, a legal awareness programme was organised in MV International School by District Legal Services Authority Samba under the aegis of J&K Legal Services Authority and the chairmanship of Yesh Pal Kotwal, Principal District & Sessions Judge Samba and Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Samba, who presided over the event as chief guest.
Keynote addresses were delivered on prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO Act 2012) by Advocate Hitesh Sharma, Panel Lawyer, DLSA Samba & Information Technology Act, 2000 by Advocate Tanya Pargal, Panel Lawyer, DLSA Samba.
Principal District & Sessions Judge Samba Yesh Pal Kotwal, discussed various acts and provisions under which certain actions done, knowingly or unknowingly can come under the preview of law. He added that such opportunities give valuable information on prevention of any kind of crime in the society and emphasised that the children should take initiative to spread this message to educate their fellow students and stakeholders to take appropriate action in case of any injustice being done to them or to their friends and relatives.
