Legal Metrology books 6 commercial establishments at Srinagar Airport

SRINAGAR, May 15: Department of Legal Metrology has fined six commercial establishments at Srinagar Airport for selling the products at exorbitant rates and not following the mandatory declarations.
Department of Legal Metrology has been receiving public complaints that the products offered for sale at the airport premises are being sold at exorbitant rates and are not carrying the mandatory declarations on the labels properly as are envisaged under rules.
In this regard, a joint team of officers from the Legal Metrology Department Budgam and Srinagar led by Joint Controller Kashmir and Dy. Controller (Enforcement) Kashmir conducted a surprise inspection of the premises of Srinagar Airport in co-ordination with Airport Authority officials and Police security.
During the inspection, six commercial establishments were booked on spot for violation of norms. It was found that some juices offered for sale were not carrying proper labeling, stickers were pasted on books for price, imported chocolates were found without MRP, dry-fruit packages were found without any labels besides prices on Kashmiri  Wazwan packages were found tampered.
