JAMMU, Apr 22: The officers of Legal Metrology and Police Department today conducted inspection at CFA of JK Wall Putty Works, a company dealing with manufacturing of portland cement and putty.
The inspection was conducted as the complaints were pouring for less weighment and non-declaration of the mandatory declarations as per the provisions prescribed for the purpose.
The officers conducted extensive checking of net contents of all the denominations of bags as per the procedure laid down under the rules by taking 32 samples from each batch and found few packages, which were short in weighment.
The packages were also examined and found not adhering to the provisions required for the information of the consumers. The products were also found to be marked with some monadic claims which too need to be substantiated with facts as those slogans lure the consumers and further need to be seen under the guidelines of Advertising Standing Council of India or Competition Act of India.
Notice were issued to the Directors of the company through CFA to showcause why further legal proceeding at the appropriate court may not be initiated against them. All the deceptive packages were seized under the Act and sale of such products was stop till rectification at the end of the company.
For other ambiguities of luring consumers, a separate notice will be sent under Consumer Protection Act.
