JAMMU, Apr 16: Outplaying their respective rivals convincingly, Legal Warriors, Great Warriors, Paradise XI and Legal Stars advanced in the ongoing Lawyers Annual Sports Meet 2014 at MA Stadium, here today.
Earlier, Legal Warriors rode on brilliant 36 runs by Shashi Koul and defeated Fire XI in an easy contest. Amjad Khan also scored 10 runs and took one wicket for the winners, while in other contest, Great Warriors got better of Lawyers Guild by 18 runs. Batting first, Great Warriors scored 93 runs, with Dinesh and Sahil contributing 50 and 23 runs respectively. In reply, Lawyers Guild scored 75 runs to lose the match by 18 runs. Rajit Singh and Sahil Sharma took one wicket each.
Legal Reagles were defeated by a narrow margin of 6 runs in another match. Pankaj Dubey and Amarvir scored 44 and 38 runs respectively, while PD Singh took 2 wickets.
In the fourth match of the day, Legal Stars Eleven prevailed over Shield Stars by 51 runs in a one-sided contest. Legal Stars scored 106 runs, while in reply, Shield Stars managed to score 55 runs only. Amit Chadha and Gorav Jamwal scored 51 and 35 runs respectively. AP Singh took 2 wickets for winners, while Daljit Singh claimed 2 wickets for losers.
In volleyball, Mavericks won in straight sets by (25-22, 25-21), while Lions Club defeated Strikers in straight sets by (25-20, 25-17) and J&K High Court Bar Six trounced Jai Hind Club in straight sets by (25-9, 25-11). Skipper Ranjit Singh Jamwal was the star performer.
