Legislator calls for all-party meet over IIM, IIT in Valley

SRINAGAR, Nov 21: Independent legislator and president of Awami Itehad Party (AIP) Abdul Rashid Sheikh today called for an all-party round table meet on November 28 for building consensus to persuade Central Government for establishing IIT, IIM and IIMC in Kashmir.
Rashid told reporters here that he is inviting leaders and representatives of all Valley-based political parties including National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), trade organizations, religious groups, civil society members and Bar Association. Besides, he said, the Congress would also be invited for the meet.
“We are in touch with former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, PDP Member of Parliaments, Tariq Hamid Karra and Muzaffar Hussain Beigh. We will also invite Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami and Hakeem Yasin,” he said.
Rashid said he is not against the interest of Jammu but same institutions should be established in Valley as well.
