Legislators review developmental works in Poonch

POONCH, May 1: An interaction meeting of Legislators from district Poonch with district officers was convened in the conference hall of the DC Office Complex here today.
MLA  Surankote, Ch Mohammad Akram, MLA Mendhar, Javed Ahmed Rana, MLA  Haveli, Shah Mohammad Tantray, MLC, Yashpal Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, M H Malik, Senior Superintendent of Police, J S Johar, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Shafiq Ahmed Choudhary besides all the district officers attended the meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner in a power point presentation apprised the legislators about the various achievements and challenges of the district administration and highlighted in detail the devastation caused by the incessant rains and flash floods to infrastructure in September 2014 and March 2015. The Deputy Commissioner also highlighted the reconstruction and restoration process of damaged infrastructure and the challenges in full restoration in some areas.
The legislature interacted with the heads of each department and enquired about the status of various developmental projects and obstacles in their timely completion.
While appreciating the extra vigilant and proactive role of district administration in effectively handling the flood crisis, MLA Mendhar, Javed Ahmed Rana called upon the officers to show same commitment and dedication in executing developmental projects and in delivering the services to the common masses. He also impressed upon the district heads of various departments to pay frequent visits in the field and ensure effective supervision of field staff.
MLA Haveli, Shah Mohammad Tantray also stressed for greater commitment in ensuring that the public grievances are redressed promptly. He called upon the officers to treat the common masses with empathy and show proactive approach in solving their problems.
Asking the officers to pay greater attention on putting check on corruption, MLA Surankote, Ch Mohammad Akram said the evil has pervaded every walk of social life and one must invoke his/her conscience to realize and tackle it.
MLC Yashpal Sharma stressed for commitment and dedication by all public servant in delivering services on the ground. He particularly stressed on ensuring that the quality of public works is not compromised saying that the substandard works must be checked and concerned executing agency punished.
Senior Superintendent of Police, J S Johar informed the legislators about law and order and prevailing crime scenario in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed the legislators to give a serious thought to the selection of developmental works in planning process in the district and stressed for strategic channelization of funds with the aim to complete particular projects in fixed timelines.
Several issues pertaining to restoration of SK Bridge, PWD, PMGSY, I&FC, PHE, PDD, BRO, Education, Health, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forest and Rural development were discussed with the concerned officers.
