JAMMU, Aug 28: Tarun Uppal, Chairperson, Nirbhay Bharat Foundation (NBF) has flayed the Lt Governor’s administration for alleged failure to improve the sports infrastructure or empower sportspersons in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
In a statement issued here today Tarun Uppal while castigating Advisor Farooq Khan said that on one hand he is issuing directions for speeding up the sports infrastructure works but at the same time there continues to be dearth of coaches in almost every sport.
He claimed that no appointments have been made since 2014 under SRO 349 and expressed great concern over the highlighted failure of appointments.
Tarun Uppal recalled that when Kiran Rijuju had visited J&K he announced two sports academies for J&K i.e. Water Sports Academy for Kashmir and Fencing Academy for Jammu. While expressing satisfaction over Water Sports Academy running successfully in Kashmir, he lamented that the plan of Fencing Academy for Jammu seems to have vanished into the blue.
