LIC celebrating 57th Foundation year, to launch employment scheme for unemployed youth

JAMMU, Sept 2: Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India is organizing various kinds of programmes to celebrate their 57th Foundation year.
This was stated by DC Thakur, Divisional Manager LIC Jammu and Kashmir during a press conference here today.
He said that LIC is going to celebrate its grand achievements throughout the week in which different sorts of activities including cultural programme at Government Women College Gandhi Nagar, plantation driver, help desk at every branch, etc would be undertaken.
Thakur said that LIC has completed its 57 years on September 1, 2013 and has played a significant role in spreading life insurance among the masses and mobilization of people’s money for people welfare.
He also said that even after the entries of private insurers for over a decade now, LIC continues to be the frontrunner in the industry in terms of market share with more than 20 crore policy holders and life fund to the tune of Rs 1433103.14 crore.
He stated that during 2012-13, 367.82 lakh policies were sold commanding 83.24 percent of the market share of new policies issued and its total first year premium income was pegged at more than Rs 76245.64 crore i.e. 71.25 percent of the market share.
Thakur added that shortly they will launch an employment scheme for the unemployed youths as Advisors with the basic criteria of matriculation for rural areas and 10+2 for Urban areas.
