Licenses of 2 diagnostic centres suspended

SRINAGAR, Dec 6: In connection with pre-natal sex determination and to review the functioning of Sonography Centres operational in district Srinagar, a meeting of officers was held here today.
The meeting was apprised that two Diagnostic Centres namely Classic Diagnostic Centre, Hyderpora and Pulse Diagnostic Centre, Karan Nagar have violated the rules. These two diagnostic centres have not maintained the records properly as was found by National Inspection and Monitoring Committee (NIMC), Government of India.
In view of this, their licenses have been temporarily suspended. It was decided in the meeting that challan will be produced before the court against these two offenders.
The meeting was told that periodic inspections should be conducted regularly on the Sonography Diagnostic Centres functional in Valley so that there should be complete ban on pre-natal sex determination.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Chief Medical Officer, Srinagar and representatives of NGOs.
