Lily Collins opens up about tough relationships for memoir

LOS ANGELES, Oct 26:  Actress Lily Collins has revisited “dark places” from her past to share her lessons about love and life in her first memoir.
The “Mirror Mirror” star has put pen to paper to give fans an insight into her life behind the camera, revealing growing up as the daughter of rock icon Phil Collins wasn’t a smooth ride, reported People magazine
“Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me” features a collection of inspirational essays, through which Collins will explain how she learned to accept her flaws and find her inner strength and confidence.
“It’s definitely like having my diary published,” the 27-year-old actor said about digging up personal details for readers.
Collins credits working with Hollywood veteran Warren Beatty on the actor-filmmaker’s new romantic drama “Rules Don’t Apply” with teaching her to “just let go” of her emotions, and it helped the star process the tough experiences from her past for the memoir.
“I was put into many situations throughout the years in acting, in Warren’s film especially, where you’re in an intense situation and you have to fight your way through it, go through the emotions, and live and breathe those scenes.”
Collins said some of her darkest moments have been in romantic relationships, and while she refused to identify the exes who caused her pain, she wants fans to understand the lessons she took away from the trying times.
“It was not about attacking, it was about showing how you can be given situations in life and turn them into lessons,” she shared.
“This is my way to open up conversation with young women and say, ‘Hey, we’re all the same.'”
Collins, who is known for keeping her love life private, has previously been linked to fellow actors Jamie Campbell Bower, Zac Efron, Taylor Lautner, and Thomas Cocquerel, while she was also spotted out on a series of dates with pop star Nick Jonas earlier this year. (PTI)
