LMD conducts surprise inspection

SRINAGAR, Jan 1: Field executives of Legal Metrology Department under the supervision of Deputy Controller (Enforcement) conducted surprise inspection of different markets of Srinagar and Budgam and booked several erring traders for violating Packaged Commodities Rules and Weights and Measures laws.
A spokesman of the department said that during the inspection of a Roller Flour Mill it was found that rice, flour, Suji and brawn are being packed in non-standard sizes in violation to Second Schedule of Packaged Commodities Rules and Weights and Measures laws. The spokesman said that mandatory declarations such as name/trade name of manufacturer or packer, date of packing, net contents in standard units, MRP (max retail sale price) and grievance cell number were missing on these packets.
