JAMMU, Oct 20: Acting on the complaint of consumer where he alleged that he was charged exorbitant rates on the sale of Lubricant Oil while getting routine service of his car, the department of Legal Metrology booked M/s FCA India Automobile Private Limited, Mumbai and imposed a fine on the company.
According to Manoj Prabhakar, Deputy Controller, Consumer Protection, a consumer got suspicious of price charged to him for Engine Oil. He made efforts to ascertain the actual MRP on the pack and was surprised to find that rate was not printed on the pack and he made a telephonic complaint.
The team comprising Inspectors Pooja and Inspector Rohit inspected the car dealer of the said company at Kunjwani and found that the packs of Oil and other accessories were not bearing mandatory declarations and the case was registered and the company was put to legal notice to show cause why the action may not be taken against them.
The management of the Company pleaded guilty and applied for departmental compounding with the assurance for adhering to the provisions of laws on all the accessories supplied to the dealer in future. The company was fined for Rs 50,000.
