JAMMU, May 16: A team of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) under the supervision of Deputy Controller, Enforcement, VS Sambyal, today conducted surprise checking at various trading establishments in the areas of Akhnoor, Janipur, Shakti Nagar, Vinayak Bazar and Bus Stand and realized an amount of Rs 8800 from erring traders.
During checking, the team comprising Inspectors, LMD, M Khateeb and Rohit Gupta, detected seven traders violating the provisions of J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement Act 1997 and other rules.
The violators were detected indulged in sale of packaged goods without mandatory declarations, use of unverified digital scales in commercial transactions and use of unverified autorickshaw faremeters.
The team realized an amount of Rs 8800 on the spot from the erring traders.
