POONCH, Dec 17: LOC Club emerged as the champions of the inaugural Krishna Ghati Premier League (KGPL) 2024-25, defeating Panjal Warriors in a thrilling final held today. LOC Club won the toss and opted to bat first, setting a competitive total of 184/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Mehboob Shaikh was the top scorer for the team with 46 runs, while Arif contributed 37 runs, and Piyush Likhi added 33 runs. For Panjal Warriors, Avinash and Sahil Sharma were the standout bowlers, taking 2 wickets each.
In reply, Panjal Warriors faced a challenging target of 185 runs. Despite a strong effort, they were bowled out for 147 runs in 18.1 overs. Avinash was the top scorer for Panjal Warriors with 44 runs, followed by Anurag, who made 29 runs. Arif Rishi was the star bowler for LOC Club, taking 3 crucial wickets, with Riswan and Balraj contributing 2 wickets each.
Arif Rishi was named Man of the Match for his outstanding all-round performance. LOC Club was awarded a cash prize of Rs 3, 50,000 and a trophy, while Panjal Warriors received Rs 1, 50,000 and a trophy as the runner-up.
The individual awards included player of the series, best fielder, best bowler, and best batsman, with cash prizes and trophies for the winners.
The chief guest of the match was GOC, Ace of Spade Division, other military & civil dignitaries including Additional SP Mohan Lal. Members of the Civil Administration, Police Administration, Sarpanches, ex-servicemen, local population from Surankote, Mendhar, Poonch and Mandi. The event was organized by the Nangi Tekri Battalion under the Krishna Ghati Brigade, marking a historic achievement for the region.
