UDHAMPUR, June 11: Up in arms against unscheduled power cuts, people held strong protest demonstrations in many places across Udhampur district.
Reports said that a large number of people, including members of Beopar Mandal Udhampur, Dogra Kranti Dal, Book Sellers Association Udhampur and others came out on the road and took out protest rallies against PDD authorities.
Dogra Kranti Dal held protest demonstration at Salathia Chowk Udhampur while Book Sellers Association Udhampur protested at Gole Market Udhampur and Beopar Mandal Udhampur also at the same place.
Irate people were raising slogans against the Power Development Department. They alleged that for the last few days, people of the areas are facing frequent unscheduled power cuts with the result water supply has also been severely hit.
“During these hot summer days, long and unscheduled power curtailment has made life miserable,” they said and appealed to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene in the matter and ensure adequate power supply to the people in Udhampur District.
