JAMMU, Aug 3: To take stock of the functioning of the colleges, Minister for Higher Education, Mohd Akbar Lone today paid visit to various Degree Colleges in Jammu city today.
The Minister visited Government Gandhi Memorial Science College, Jammu where Principal, Satinder Singh apprised the Minister about the havoc caused by flash flood water that entered in the premises of the college damaging the lawns and other establishments including fountain in the front of the college.
The Minister also inspected the tin parking shed which was damaged due to falling of an old tree. The minister directed the Municipal authorities who were present on the occasion to look in to the matter and asked them to find out way to stop the flash flood water.
Later, the Minister interacted with the staff and Principal of the college and enquired about the working of the college and problems being faced by them.
Mr Lone also visited the Commerce College and Principal showed him the dilapidated condition of the building of the college. He also visited the newly renovated hall in the Commerce College.
The Minister inspected Government Post Graduate College of Education, Canal road and went around various blocks of the college and interacted with the Principal about the functioning of the college.
Later, Minister visited Government Degree College for Women Gandhi Nagar, and inspected the construction work of new bath room and toilet block.
Later, the Minister convened an interaction session with the staff of the college and enquired from them about the functioning of the college besides their grievances.
