SRINAGAR, Oct 13: Lone Star KFC Blue and J&K State Power Development Corporation (J&KSPDC) won Super Division and Premier Division matches respectively in the ongoing State Football League.
In the Super-Division match played at Synthetic Turf TRC, KFC Blue beat Rahim Greens Solina Sports by three goals to two in a closely contested affair.
Nadeem opened the account for the winning team in 16th minute of the game while Faizan doubled the lead just four minutes later.
Zubair scored the third goal for Lone Star team in 25th minute of the match and at that moment it seemed the Solina team was down and out of the contest. Solina couldn’t score any goal in the first half but as the second half begin, they came with all guns blazing.
Sahil Dar and Hakim scored two back-to-back goals for Solina team narrowing the margin to 3-2. The Solina team played a different game throughout the second half and got several chances to score. However, after scoring two goals, they wasted rest of the chances and seeing Solina players attacking more often on their defence lines, Lone Star team concentrated more on maintaining the lead till the end of the match.
When the referee blew the final whistle, the score line read 3-2 in favour of Lone Star. The quality and the speed of the football between two evenly matched teams enthralled the spectators, who had come in huge numbers to witness the game.
In the Premier Divison match of the day, also played at Synthetic Turf TRC, J&KSPDC team defeated Iqbal Sports by 3-0 in a one sided encounter.
J&KSPDC team played attacking football from the start of the match and kept defence lines of the opposite team under pressure.
In 10th minute of the first half, Tafeem Tariq scored a goal for J&KSPDC and Sheikh Faizan doubled the lead in 35th minute. When Sanan Tariq scored third goal, the fate of the match was sealed in favour of J&KSPDC.
It was after six matches that J&KSPDC tasted a victory as they either lost or drew all their previous matches. Sanan Tariq was declared as player of the match for his performance.
Meanwhile, B-Division league of the ongoing State Football League is already completed with IFC Nowgam winning the title and Noorbagh FC finishing as runner-up. The A-Division League has reached to the semifinal stage with Novelty Blue, Jehangir Club, Fort Club Views and Novelty FC qualifying for semis.
More than 50 percent match of the Super and Premier Division league have been completed till date. More than 500 football teams and clubs with over 12000 players and over 1500 team officials are participating in the mega event, the aim of which is to unearth the hidden talent across the State.
The event is being held across the 22 districts of the state these days and is being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) under the auspices of State Sports Council and on the directions of All India Football Federation (AIFF).
