LPEF demands OPS, hike in medical allowance

JAMMU, Oct 19: All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation (LPEF) has demanded implementation of Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and hike in the Medical allowance of the J&K employees and pensioners.
In a meeting of the Federation held here today under the chairmanship of Achal Dev Singh, its convenor, the members hoped that the new Coalition Government will address their long pending issues and also fulfill its commitments. They demanded that Old Pension Scheme be implemented in the Jammu and Kashmir without any delay.
They said J&K employees and pensioners are getting just Rs 300 as Medical allowance for the last many years. The Government must enhance it to Rs 1000 per month for the employees and pensioners.
Singh said the Central Government has increased 3 pc DA of its employees and the J&K should also hike the same from July 2024. They also demanded release of 18 months DA from July 2019 to Dec 2020, which was withheld by the then Administration without any solid reason.
They further demanded regularization of daily wagers and redressal of the issues of Anganwadi workers, helpers, ReT teachers, village gurads and cooks of the Education Department.
