Leh, Feb 7: Final match of the 14th CEC Cup Men’s Ice Hockey Championship was played between ITBP team and Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre (LSRC) Red team at the Ice Hockey Rink, NDS Sports Complex, Leh today.
The tournament was organised by District Youth Services & Sports in collaboration with Ladakh Winter Sports Club, Leh. Despite a dominant performance from the team of ITBP in the beginning, it was LSRC Red who sealed victory in the end and lifted up the 14th CEC Cup Men’s Ice Hockey Championship 2021.
Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson was the chief guest along with Executive Councillor for Minority Affairs, Ghulam Mehdi Ashoor, Executive Councillor for Rural Dev. Deptt, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, Executive Councillor for Agriculture, Stanzin Chosphel, Councillors, DIGs of ITBP (Rajat Sharma, RK Verma & RK Chauhan) and Commanding Officer LSRC, Colonel Rinchen Dorjey were the guests of honour on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, CEC Gyalson congratulated all the participants for showing extraordinary performances throughout the game. Highlighting the popularity of the game in the Union Territory, he stated that sportspersons from Ladakh are bringing glories in different winter sports at various national as well as international levels which is an inspiration to all the sports enthusiast in the region.
The CEC assures LAHDC Leh’s assistance in providing good facilities to the sportspersons. He also stated that he is following up for a proposal with the higher authorities for an International Level Ice Hockey rink to be constructed soon for the Ice Hockey enthusiasts of Ladakh.
He directed the organisers to arrange a dedicated medical team with an ambulance on standby to look after any kind of casualties during the game in future.
Prizes were distributed and players along with officials were felicitated by the guest in the end.
