JAMMU, June 27: Lieuten-ant Colonel, Ranveer Singh Jamwal, son of the soil has added another feather to his cap by scaling the highest peak of the North America-Mt Denali.
Lt Col Jamwal, who hails from village Badhori in Samba district has the distinction of scaling the Mount Everest thrice and is internationally acclaimed mountaineer. He was the team leader of the Indian Army Expedition Team to Mount Everest when the powerful earthquake struck Nepal on April 25, 2015 that left many climbers dead and Lt Col showing extra exemplary courage had rescued the members of other expedition teams besides clearing the base camp of garbage before leaving it. His step was lauded by one and all.
Jamwal has done it once again and has set the standards of mountaineering very high by climbing the highest peak of North American Continent & that too by doing it without any guide or any logistical support. He did everything from picking up his own rations, pitching his own tent, making his own food etc.
He summitted Mt Denali (The North America’s Highest mountain on June 20, 2017 at 6:15 pm.) with minimal cost and minimum days i.e., 8 days to the summit.
Passing through the long glaciers amid extreme subzero temperatures carrying heavy backpacks & pulling sleds (minimum 20 kg backpack & 20 kgs duffel bag on sled including personal clothing & equipment).
Lt Col Jamwal has succeeded in conquering the sixth highest mountain of the world.
Technical difficulties make Mt Denali (also called as “The Great One”) as one of the world’s greatest mountaineering challenges and this year the success rate was just 36%.
This is his sixth continental Summit. He has already been to Mt Killimanjaro in Africa, Mt Carstenesz Pyramid Australia, Mt Aconcagua in South America, Mt Elbrus in Europe and Mt Everest in Asia.
