LWSC organises special game of Ice Hockey

LEH, Jan 15: A special game of Ice Hockey to raise awareness on the impact of climate change was played on the theme, “The Last Game” at NDS Ice Hockey Rink here today.
The exhibition match between Team India and United Nation team was played on the above mentioned theme.
Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory Ladakh, RK Mathur was the chief guest.
Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Chairman Gyal P Wangyal was also present on the occasion to witness the game.
Lt Governor while speaking on the occasion expressed happiness to witness the Ice Hockey game for the very first time in his life.
The special exhibition match was organised by Ladakh Winter Sports Club (LWSC), The Hockey Foundation in collaboration with UNFCCC and Randstad India, supported by Ladakh Women Ice Hockey Foundation.
A few top Ice Hockey players of the World and the Olympic gold medallist Fetisov also participated in this match.
LWSC member Noney Wangchuk said that the members of LWSC, the premier sporting club in Leh were eagerly waiting for this particular game played to sensitise the people about climate change, which is global issue.
He further said that a series of events including seminars will be organised to discuss on climate change and exchange ideas on sustainable planet friendly solutions.
